Passion for studies since childhood
Born on 14 April 1891 in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh, Dr. Ambedkar’s childhood was full of struggle. Despite the contempt of the society and financial constraints, he made education the goal of his life. His first marriage took place at the age of 14 with Ramabai, who supported him in every difficulty and always inspired him for studies.

Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar was very intelligent in studies since childhood. He studied from Elphinstone School. He obtained a degree in Economics and Political Science from Bombay University. Dr. Ambedkar obtained a total of 32 educational degrees, which is a historic achievement in itself. His passion for studies took him from India to America and Britain. After doing MA and PhD from Columbia University, he completed 8 years of study in just two years and three months and obtained the degree of “Doctor of Science” from London School of Economics. He was the first person in the world to get this degree.

International recognition
Dr. Ambedkar obtained the highest degrees like LLD, DSc, and DLitt from various universities. Prestigious institutions like Bombay University, Columbia University, London School of Economics, Osmania University, Nagpur University, Aligarh Muslim University, and BHU saluted his scholarship. It is also said that Dr. Ambedkar had knowledge of not just one or two but 9 languages. Apart from this, at the time of his death, Dr. Ambedkar had 30 to 35 thousand books.
